TRAVEL TO NORTH AFRICA
North Africa contains
the white sandy beaches of the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts and the vast Sahara
desert. Visit North Africa's cities to see beautiful mosques and palaces, medieval
alleyways and labyrinths, and souks. Venturing outside the cities you will encounter
many adventure opportunities including camel treks, mountain hiking, and even visiting
Roman Ruins.
TRAVEL TO WEST AFRICA
West Africa has a
friendly unhurried approach to life. Although this area does not yet receive large
amounts of tourism the people are friendly and inclusive. West Africa's musical
tradition includes lots of drum music. If you are lucky enough to stumble across
a local festival you will be entertained by the drumming and festivities. Many
opportunities exist to explore the West Africa slave trade. Activities in this
region include safaris, bird watching in the rainforests, shopping for drums and
woodcarvings, and other outdoor activities.
TRAVEL TO EAST AFRICA
East Africa contains
some of the most stunning geography in Africa. The two tallest mountains in Africa
are in this region, Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya. There are many lakes in this area
including Lake Albert, Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika, and Lake Edward. The headwaters
of the Nile River can be found in this region. East African safaris are noted for
their large concentrations of 'The Big Five': elephant, lion, water buffalo, rhinoceros,
and leopard. Zanzibar is located in this region. Take the opportunity to learn about
the East African Arab slave trade, or buy some spices, or lounge on beaches bordering
the Indian Ocean. Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee watching is located in this region.
TRAVEL TO CENTRAL AFRICA
Central Africa,
occasionally called Middle Africa, is a region dominated by the Congo River and lies
west of the Great Rift Valley. Central Africa is dominated by rainforest, although some
countries display amazing beautiful white sandy beaches. The Central African rainforest
is the second largest in the world, just behind the Amazon rainforest. The Forest Reserves
and National Parks in this region are dedicated to displaying the natural beauty of its
mountains, spectacular waterfalls, and abundant rainforest wildlife.
TRAVEL TO SOUTHERN AFRICA
Southern Africa is a
region whilst South Africa is a country within this region. Southern Africa's terrain
has a bit of everything; deserts, savannahs, forests, mountains, and coasts. A safari
will allow you to view the magnificent scenery and diverse wildlife of this region.
Safari animals in this region include antelopes, zebras, giraffes, lions, rhinos,
hyenas, wildebeest, and many others. However due to the vastness of this region
opportunities exist to see pink flamingos, penguins, seals, large game fish, and
even great white sharks. Adventure opportunities abound including hot air ballooning,
hiking, game fishing, and many others.
